The Tokyo Open as a Multi-Timeframe Stress Test
How overnight structure interacts with the first hour—and what to ignore.
The Tokyo open rewards traders who already know the overnight map. Without that map, the first hour becomes a stream of micro-signals that feel urgent and mean little.
Mark the prior day’s high and low on the daily, then note whether Asia is trading inside or outside that range. Only after that annotation should you watch five-minute reactions. Reversals that occur against a clear higher-frame range edge deserve attention; mid-range noise rarely does.
We practice this sequence in the Intraday Context Lab with replayed opens so the habit forms under time pressure, not in quiet study alone.
